Taking/making decisions when other people are involved has been a challenge for me for a long time. Like this week. I had planned to leave the office at 6 in the evening and then go to my Body Stress Release therapy (with Clemens Evertsen) because I had a lot of back pain.
5 minutes to 6 another teacher came to my office and asked if I could go with her to a group of students who had a lot of question about a Math test they had to take. Just before that my daughter called to say that there was no bread at home and I promised to buy bread before going to my therapy. My daughter even asked if I could bring it home before going to therapy. That was clearly a NO.
I went to the students I answered their questions and by the time I finished, it was 10 past 6. Curacao is a small island, but when you to have to go somewhere it feels like a big country. I managed to buy bread and arrived 5 minutes late at my appointment. 5 minutes in Curacao is nothing, but I do not like it when I am late. It is hard for me to say no because I think that I would not have liked that if I were the students, or my daughter or the therapist. At that moment all of them felt
Here is a video explaining Body Stress Release, if you are interested.
As I said so many times I have to make time. One way to do this is to stop some of the activities I am involved with and that are not necessary. Last year I gave up all the high school exam correction I had. I have been doing that for 15 years.
I have 3 websites. When I learned about Affiliate Marketing I started a website (https://start-your-online-business.com)
and some months later I had another one about Forex Trading (https://mybest4xtraining.com).
Now I have this one too. It is just too much. If I look at how much time I invest in them (p.e. promoting on social media) and their return on investment, it seems like it is not worth it. But on the other hand, I enjoyed the journey and learned a lot. What I am going to do now is go on a low profile with the first two and just keep writing actively for this one.
This week a made a setup for the summary of my research. It will be a longitudinal study in which 120 children will be participating.
Finally the Math Quiz weekend. On Saturday over a hundred children gathered in the auditorium of the University of Curaçao, Dr. Moises da Costa Gomez. Here is a picture of all the children who participated in the Quiz on Saturday and a video of the event. Only 8 children went to the finals the
The finals were again at the University, but this time I had to be part of the presentation on TV. The quizmaster, Scarlet Zalm – de Groot, is a very well experienced TV presenter. Although my role was not a big one, the TV crew wanted me to be next to Scarlet the whole time. Just standing there. Just before it all started I had a belly ache.
Have I already told you how small my island is? Scarlet was a student of mine (teacher training) 3 years ago and her husband was my neighbor like 37 years ago.
At a given moment I went to the TV crew members to ask something and they were discussing who of them was a student mine. This was during their high school years.

UP TO NEXT WEEK!!
