It has been 6 months since my last post. My idea was to take a break of 1 or 2 months and then to resume writing again. As usual, a lot of things happened. Am I still on the road to Ph.D.? What happened in my personal life? And table tennis?
In this post, I will let you in on some of the things that happened in the last 6 months. So keep reading.
I think that the biggest change has been in my personal life. I have been writing about my partner Raul de Windt, the martial artist. I met him for the first time 25 years ago. Well, we decided to tie the knot. We had at the end of the year a small wedding just with our families, but it was very nice.
Some people say that marrying won’t change a thing, but I really felt and I still feel different. It is a bit difficult to explain, but it is a good feeling. The butterflies that were in my belly, at the beginning of our relationship, are back again. Can you imagine that?
Of course, I kept playing table tennis. In 2018 I was the runner up at the National Championships. Because there are not many girls/women playing table tennis I compete with men. Not at the highest level though. It is called the B-class. Now I am the running champion!!
So now it is time to go to a different level. Before I do that, they are organizing a tournament for women with players from the neighboring islands, Aruba and Bonaire. There is also a player from the Netherlands staying on the island for an internship. I haven’t met her yet.
My last post was about my decision to quit working at the university. I did stop and now I am teaching math at a high school. I used to work there 13 years ago.
When I stopped working at the university they told me that they could not keep helping me with my Ph.D. So my road to Ph.D. seemed to come to an end before really starting.
But, but ……… I had a conversation with the professor and there is a chance I still can do research!! As soon as there is something happening I will let you in.
